Our Classes
Level 4/5: Clownfish/Seahorse
Swimmers will work at the appropriate skills during class.
Clownfish students will work to improved their freestyle and backstroke while learning all 4 competitive strokes. Emphasis will be placed on developing strokes that are swim meet legal. Skills include strong freestyle and backstroke, strong kicks (flutter, butterfly, breaststroke), novice breaststroke and butterfly, tread for 1 minute, standing dives, surface dives, flip turns.
Seahorse students will refine all 4 competitive strokes while gradually increasing strength and endurance in each stroke. The ultimate goal is to swim each of the four competitive strokes legally for the specified distance. Skills include: 50-meter freestyle, 50-meter backstroke, 25-meter butterfly, 25-meter breaststroke, 100-meter continuous swim, tread/swim/tread, eggbeater kick, flip turns.
Class length: 30 minutes
Level 3: Octopus
Children will learn fundamental freestyle and backstroke skills with emphasis placed on the coordination and timing of the strokes as well as the development of a strong flutter kick.
Is this class right for my child? - If your child can independently swim the length of the pool on the surface, using proper arm and leg movements, they are ready for the next level.
Requirements
- Parent, guardian, or responsible adult at the facility.
- Participants must wear proper swim attire.
Frogs & Tadpoles
Prerequisite - Child must be 9-36 months old.
Join us for this exploration of the water. This class is designed for young children (9 mo-3 years old) who are most at-risk for accidental drowning. Together, parents and children will learn key safety tips and skills while playing games and singing songs.
Requirements
- A parent/adult is required to participate in the water at every lesson.
- All children must wear a swim diaper.
- Registration is limited to one class per child per session.
Level 1: Flounder
Prerequisite - Children must be at least 3-years-old to participate in class.
In this class, children will become acclimated to the water through activities, games, and play. Acclimation includes water submersion, nose/mouth bubbles, introduction to bobs, and age-appropriate water safety.
Is this class right for my child? - If your child can independently submerge their head and blow bubbles, they are ready for the next level.
Requirements
- Any child not potty-trained must wear a swim diaper.
- Parent, guardian, or responsible adult present in the facility.
- Participants must wear proper swim attire.
Level 2: Jellyfish
Children will expand on the skills learned in the Flounder class and learn to be in the water unassisted in both front and back positions while learning to propel themselves through the water using either arms or legs.
Is this class right for my child? - If your child can independently float on their front and back for 10 seconds, they are ready for the next level.
Requirements
- Parent, guardian, or responsible adult present in the facility.
- Participants must wear proper swim attire.
Adult Lessons
If you are an adult (16 or older) and are uncomfortable in the water, or have no previous swim lesson experience, then this class is for you.
Students will learn basic swimming techniques and key water safety skills. Students will move through the activities at an individual pace while building confidence and comfort in the water.
Skills - Water Acclimation, Movement Through Water, Floats (Front and Back), Recovery, Elementary Backstroke, Water Safety, Introduction to Freestyle.
Requirements:
Arrive in proper swim attire.
